About the film…
This documentary illustrates that despite mounds of derogatory statistics regarding Black men in their roles as fathers, there is a strong legacy of Black men (from slavery to present) who were/are very proactive fathers.
In order to reconnect with our legacy, we must first unmask the many extraneous circumstances Black fathers face. Then we can clearly explore and define what can be done to overcome these circumstances in order to keep the legacy alive and positive for future generations of Black fathers.
Writer/director Dana Ross utilizes her own family history and the stories of other Black men who are proactive in their roles as fathers, to open a positive forum about Black fathers in a time where negative “baby-daddy” and “baby-mama” drama consistently infiltrate Black communities via various media outlets.
The documentary gives an in depth look into the hearts and souls of Black fathers as they speak on parenting, education, spirituality, the judicial system and racism.
